"It's a veritable vegetable paradise!"

My husband found himself an occupation these last several months sans employment. He schooled himself on the finer arts of growing things in the arid Arizona climate.

Then, he used these


and built himself a garden in the wasteland that used to be our backyard, which included reinforcements to keep the curious dogs away from the precious produce.


this is the beginning of crookneck squash. He harvested one a week or so ago and said it was delicious. (sadly, my tempestuous tummy was having none of it - nor the zucchini he also harvested and cooked.)





I'm not usually a radish fan, but these are SO good!







He's planted squash, zucchini, roma tomatoes, regular tomatoes, carrots, okra, cucumbers, radishes, watermelon, canteloupe. . . I know I'm probably missing something. . .



Who knew such a produce paradise could exist in our backyard, in the very same retaining wall where cactus once lived?
